Girls Who Code Club

Girls Who Code Club

This program works to inspire, educate, and equip 6-12 graders with the computing skills to pursue 21st century opportunities. Learn to code, improve your problem solving and critical thinking skills, and build a community at the Marion County Public Library Girls Who Code Club!  This is an 8-week program running from August to December. During this 8-week program, we will be building skills from week to week to learn how to create games and other creative coding projects, such as a chatbot friend. We will be learning to use Scratch and Python throughout these sessions. All genders are welcome!

Meteor Catcher Game Pt. 1

In this tutorial, you will learn to program a collecting game using p5.js, a JavaScript library created especially for artists and designers. You will explore the p5.js environment and draw basic shapes to the screen, then use variables, functions, and conditionals to program behaviors into your game components. In addition to practicing your programming skills, you will learn about how different parts of a game work together as a system to practice your game design skills.
