Beyond the Book Club: "Night Watch"

Beyond the Book Club: "Night Watch"

In May, Beyond the Book Club will be discussing Night Watch by Jayne Anne Phillips.

In 1874, in the wake of the Civil War, 12-year-old ConaLee and her mother, Eliza, who hasn't spoken in more than a year, seek refuge in a West Virginia mental asylum where they get swept up in the life of the facility--and the mystery behind the man they call the Night Watch. "Epic, enthralling, and meticulously crafted, Night Watch is a stunning chronicle of surviving war and its aftermath".  West Virginia author Jayne Anne Phillips' Pulitizer Prize winning novel is set in the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in 1874 Weston during Reconstruction.
